The target chamber environment includes the locations of the laser beam and diagnostic ports.
VISRAD currently supports the following target chamber environments:
It is possible that future versions of VISRAD could support other target chamber environments.
VISRAD also supports the use of custom (user-defined) laser beams. Custom beams can be added to existing laser beam systems (e.g., NIF), or added to Custom Laser Systems.
Upon starting a new application (whether starting VISRAD or selecting File | New), the user is presented with a list of target chambers available for selection (see below). VISRAD then sets up the appropriate laser beam and diagnostic port systems.
The image below shows an example of the OMEGA-EP target chamber. The short-pulse Backlighter and Sidelighter beams are shown in blue and green, respectively.
The image below shows an example of the OMEGA target chamber. The short-pulse "EP" beam, which reflects off an off-axis parabola near port H7, is shown in red.
